Community Initiatives Foundation coordinates the
efforts to determine the viability of establishing a center for children
who experience trauma and depends on the generosity of individuals,
foundation grants, philanthropists and corporate sponsorship for
the financial resources to continue its work. General and designated
gifts are graciously accepted in any amount.
Katrina Through The Eyes Of Children is the tool
to raise awareness and understanding of children and teens who experience
trauma. The exhibit is also a vehicle for raising the funds needed
to bring the dream of a center to serve these youth to reality. Multiple
exhibits are envisioned to tell the story of the survivors at Renaissance
Village to a world-wide audience. The exhibit illustrates the need,
successes and challenges in responding to disaster survivors and
those traumatized by death and loss and raises the critical question
of will we choose to be better prepared next time disaster strikes.
Community Initiatives Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit
